　　山区丘陵岗地占湖北省国土面积的80%，每年有农作物秸秆2100万吨，养殖肉牛的资源优势明显。牛的疫病少，肉价高。省农业发展中心调查显示，去年每头牛的平均利润为3500多元，养殖肉牛是一项值得发展的脱贫致富好项目。

　　与生猪和家禽业相比，湖北省肉牛养殖规模化不够，良种改造培育不足，政策支持少，融资困难，亟待提高认识，加快发展。
